Rena,
This has been discussed before and I strongly recommend a search for more information. That said…
I was reading conflicting reports and decided to try it and see if it was worth the cost for what I use Photoshop for. It didn’t take me long to discover that it saved ME (for MY use) a heck of a lot of time over V 7 and some of the things it did (shadow & highlight and photo filters) either as issued or with minimal work around did a better job than I could produce with V 7.
I suggest that you check and see if your computer meets at least minimum requirements and try the download and decide if YOU would benefit enough for it to be worth the upgrade. Only you can make that decision.

I love CS and it runs great on my p4, 2.8 w/1 gig ram. Don’t be overwhelmed by problem reports here. As this is a tech help site, most of the people popping in (non regulars looking for help) aren’t here to say wow, what a great product. This forum is a skewed view of the sucess of PS CS, if you will.
dave,
You nailed it. My AMD XP-1700+ 3/4 gig memory machine starts CS a bit slower than 7 but other than that there is little speed difference and any slow down is probably due to the fact I’m using the greater color depth with 30+% larger (30% pixel count linear not area) images so the files are a LOT bigger.
I was scared (word ommited by poster to keep the thread clean) by the reports of problems but the trial/test download took care of those.
Bill, a HAPPY with CS user.
Thanks Dave and Bill for your input/suggestions.
Thank you,
Rccm
Why not just download the demo and test drive it for a month. It’s fully functional.
