Hey,
I’m new here but I thought I’de just drop by and ask a question that’s been bugging me for a while…
How the heck do you make a convincing wax seal in Photoshop?

I’ve been trying it off and on for a couple of months with nothing that looks even remotely convincing. If anybody has any tutorials or personal experience with making seals, or even anything waxy, then please drop me a line.

Much appreciated,
kurige

Why not cheat?
Get a red wax candle, make a little pool of wax, let it cool and either photograph it or scan it.(face down)
Then use PS to put an embossed image on top

Or Google images produced about 2530 hits for ‘wax seal’ most of which can be edited in PS.

Mmmm… And only 40 of those 2530 are high resolution enough for what I’m looking for. And only 1 of those 40 is a top-down-flat view that would be easily editable with ps.

Besides, I want a reproducible method completely, or almost completely, in ps that will let me do the same thing over and over again but with interchangeable stamp and wax shape.

I found this tutorial (in case you didn’t find them yourself): http://www.escrappers.com/waxfile.html

This has QuickTime tutorials:

I could swear I had seen actions that would help you with the waxy look as well but I can’t find them… Well, I did find one that I downloaded from DeepSpaceWeb when it was open but it’s not what you are looking for (looks more like lumpy stone)…
