Is it Ok to buy CS 2nd Hand?

This is what the seller says

"Hasn’t been registered no, cd case is still in shrink wrap. activation is best done by email, after installation the activation screen appears, you email me the code and i aquire the authorisation code for you. then it is fully activated. you have 30 days grace period to activated, after which it is unusable. its all very simple."

Beware people saying, "It’s all very simple."

This activation thing is a PITA

Martin- that sounds very, very dodgy. Activation can be done over the phone with Adobe or automatically over the internet. AFAIK there’s no "e-mail" involved. You should get the authorisation code fomr Adobe, not the seller. Activation has been implemented to try and stop software piracy, like this example.

Under no circumstance should anyone need to acquire an authorization code for you. That’s a task you would perform.

This activation thing is a PITA

Do you have an Internet connection? If so the "activation thing" will be quite simple.

Sounds like someone ordered the Creative Suite, decided they didn’t need the Photoshop part and is selling it separately. That means their suite license covers PS and Adobe does not recognize it as a separate product that you could register and activate yourself. In other words you have the product but not the license. You will then have to depend on him for future activations when you make hardware changes or want to install on a laptop.

Yeah, activation is a PITA…but from Adobe’s point of view, so is casual copying.

Except there’s no way he could be selling a shrink-wrapped CD case as the CS CDs come in a large DVD-style case. Whatever is going on it certainly doesn’t sound legit.
