hi there, i’m hoping someone has some insight to help streamline a currently very tedious process.

I typically have PSD files with many sets of content, created for slideshows. What i’d like to do is, at the end of the day, automate the process of saving or exporting the content of each of those sets to a separate file, be it jpeg, tiff, or print as PDF.

Is something like this possible? If so, any insight would be incredibly appreciated.

Thanx gang, 🙂

Zafer,

I presume you mean Layer sets, not action sets. It sounds like you have Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, etc. all in a single PSD and you want to save Set 1 as Image 1, Set 2 as Image 2, etc. Is that right?

Won’t be easy – I don’t think. If your sets always use the same name, you may be able to automate it.

At the following link is a Photoshop action that saves out individual layers, and one that saves out snapshots.

Photoshop Evangelists Photoshop Actions <http://www.adobeevangelists.com/photoshop/actions.html>

It’s hard to recommend exactly what to do since I don’t know if you are interested in automating from PSD to PSD or within a single PSD only. Part of the complexity will come from whether or not you use the same action set names in all PSD’s. If not, you’ll have to "prepare" images for automation – like Stamping Layer sets as indivual layers (which *could* be automated), then running the Save Out Layers action from the above link.

Give them a try and if you have trouble come back with more info about your situation and we’ll see what we can see.

Peace,
Tony

hey Tony, many thanx for the prompt reply!

I will try your recommendations, thank you, but wanted to clarify the ambiguity in my initial request:

I am indeed referring to saving/exporting Layer Sets and only within one PSD File. Ideally, i’d like to use the Layer Set names as the file names.

Again, many thanx,
