I use the select tool alot.

Quite often, I have to tediously, click the remaining little speckles that didnt get selected. For example, I needed to change the color of the beer in a lineup of pints and I had to zoom in to despeckle those little pixelks that didnt get piced up.

The program knew the rim of the glass, so it was just a matter of getting everything inside the glass. My idea/feeling is that Adobe should add a "select all" tool once the perimiters of the object have been defined.

This way, it will get everything, and nobody will need to worry about clicking around to get everything anymore.

There are plenty of options for you. The first of many that comes to mind is to use QuickMask after the initial Magic Wand. In QM, you’ll be able to paint away anything you don’t want or need and refine your mask until it’s perfect. You can also use commands under the Select menu to add similar pixels, expand or contract and smooth the selection.

You may also want to explore other masking option, notably, Color Range, the Pen Tool, and even individual channels from which to derive a selection.

I agree with the OP. I think it would be great to have something like the fill in the extract command to work on selections. There’s a request in the FR forum to have extract be non-destructive by creating a mask. I’d like that.

The magic want tool is with out a doubt the weakest of all the selection tools. The pen tool and most defiantly mask certainly much better but if you really insist on using 6the magic wand just alter the tolerance value in the options bar at the top when the magic wand is active. This will allow you to get better results.

It is set at 32 by default giving you 32 pix up and down from the pixel that you actually clicked on but you can change it depending on the image that you are working on.

Please have a great day,

I think he’s aware of that setting. What he’s saying is that; when the tolerance is set to give him the perfect outer rim, there will still be many pixels inside that rim that don’t meet the tolerance and hence all the stray pixels. He’s requesting an option that would allow you to select all within the outer rim.
I agree that this would be a welcome addition.
