I install Photoshop 7 upgrade on Windows XP machine. I can not get the program to run. I get the message "Could not initialize Photoshop because the ICC profile is invalid" and then Photoshop shuts down.

I upgraded to 7.0.1 and downloaded the ICC profiles from Adobe’s website. I copied the profiles into the C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color folder but it still will not come up and then Photoshop 5 stopped working. I deleted the profiles I downloaded, fortunately I renamed the old ones before copying the new ones, and now Photoshop 5 is working again.

HELP.

Kay,

You may have one bad ICC profile in your
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color folder. Remove as many as possible (i.e those that you will not need) to another folder.

Also run Adobe Gamma from the C/Panel. Load the sRGB profile as your starting point and create a new monitor Profile.

Make sure you change the text in the Description Box and definitely make sure you SAVE TO A NEW FILENAME – or you will over-write your sRGB profile.
