Trying to open a jpeg image I get the following error:
"Could not complete your request because an invalid non-baseline jpeg > = 2 is found." Can any one help me understand what this means and how to open this image? I’m using PS cs.
Thank you
Don

Sounds like corrupted file, for whatever reason.

If IrfanView won’t open a JPEG, never found anything that would….

I’m still not using CS, but PS has always been VERY persnickety about opening files with the least glitch.

For example, it won’t do truncated files, though Iview will. Truncated files, might be 1% of the file intact, might be 99% intact.

Never have understood why PS is so unforgiving re parsing files. If a freeware program can do it, why is PS coded to be so unforgiving?

Re: If a freeware program can do it, why is PS coded to be so unforgiving?

Quality, I assume. PS assures you that you are getting a complete, correct file, not 99% of one. Stuff like that allows you to become a market leader.

That said, it would be nice if an option was available, perhaps through a dialog warning that only a partial file was recovered, for those times when something is better than nothing.

Thanks again guys. The file is not that important, but this is the first time I received an error worded as it was.The image was from a forum group and I downloaded another from the same person with the same error.Must be the way he posted it.
Have a nice day,
Don
