Is there anyway to automatically transform/scale a pasted layer so that it is the exact size of the background image you are working on.

My best bet is to use guides, which should snap to each of the sides of your background image. After you have set all four rulers – one for each side – move the image to the top left of your ruler configuration and use free transform to resize it to the other end (possibly retaining aspect ratio by using SHIFT).

Another possibility is to transform the image using hard numbers – but of course you will need to know those for you background pic as well.

If these tips don’t help, maybe you can give a more detailed explanation of what you want.

Aloha,

If the pasted Layer is to be the same "Image Size," i.e. full-size, as the image, into which you will Paste, then you might first change Image>Image Size on it to match exactly, the target image. Make sure that you use the pixel dimensions, and not inches, cm’s, etc. so you will have an exact size match – don’t forget the resolution also. Then, when you Paste, hold down Shift to " center" the pasted Layer.
