Hi, I am kind of new to Photoshop and I bought Scott Kelby’s new book – Photoshop CS for the Digital Photographers and it’s an excellent book by the way.

I am trying something very simple and I can’t understand why it’s not working, I am creating contact sheets of photos on a CD but the contact sheets keeps looking out of focus and prints like that too and even the text is out of focus and I am following the exact steps in above book.

I am creating a contact sheet at 4.75" x 4.75" so that it will fit in a CD, at 75 dpi and I am creating 6 rows x 6 columns and I am using size 8 Arial font.

Any advise why mine is out of focus, the example in the books seems to look fine.

Thanks
Jaco

Things won’t look sharp when printed at 75 dpi.

Because 75ppi is too low for decent printing.

If giving contact sheet file with scans to cu, I generally do 8×10 page, ppi 200, flatten image, sharpen, save as medium high quality JPEG.

And 300ppi, just like for normal printing, would of course be even better.

But you add another probability: you are cramming so much info 4.75" x
4.75" that your printer may simply not be able to do it.
But try 200 or 300ppi, then sharpen or unsharp mask and see how it does.
