I’m using Nikon RAW file format and then printing at 17 x 22. I want to proof at a smaller size of 8 x11

What’s the best workflow for doing this ?

Can I simply work with an image size of 17 x 22 and when it comes time to proof, let the printer driver shrink it down ?

Thanks.

Have you tried using the Image>Image Size dialog box? You can specify what size you need there. If you don’t have the resample box checked, it is a safe approach. Since 17×22 is not the same proportion as 8×11, you may also find the crop feature useful.

Gary,

OK I was talking about printing on different paper sizes, not the actual image size on the paper which would change proportionally.

I was thinking that if I do all the work in Photoshop at an image size of 8 x 111 when I resize it for the larger print that I would end up with a very blurry picture.

So should I work at the final image size and then resize down to proof ?
