Crop tool resizes to one pixel

Suddenly the Crop tool in my PhotoShop 6 resizes to one pixel square, no matter what the size specified. Has anyone else had this problem, and is it related to the continual winXP updates my machine keeps installing? The Crop tool is now unusable.

reset the crop tool with the clear button on the option bar that shows up when the tool is selected.

of course… I never knew it could do that, and I’ve been using Photoshop for many years. Always something to learn – thanks
