Hi
I wish to create a portfolio on either cd or dvd but would like to ensure the pictures are safe from unauthorised copying. Can you give me any ideas how this can be achieved.
I use Photoshop 7, but would consider any other package to achieve this. Thanks.

Step 1: It can’t. Forget it.

If the images are on digital media and can be viewed, they can be copied; it’s that simple. The Motion Picture Association of America tried very hard to make sure that movie DVDs were uncopyable, and it didn’t work. If you distribute your pictures, they can be copied; if you wish to have a portfolio on disk, you have to accept that.

You can have a higher degree of protection for a portfolio by putting the pictures in a program like Flash or Director – that way the pictures are embedded in the program and not available individually. Of course, someone who knew how would still be able to do a screen capture, but that would only give them a low-res version. And you either need to know the programs or have someone do it for you.
