Photoshop images crash CuteFTP

When I try to upload or download .gif or .jpg images created in Photoshop 7.0 using CuteFTP 5.0.1 XP, Cute FTP crashes. (Using Windows XP)

I had this problem a couple of years ago, and I think I solved it by disabling Photoshop’s ability to open images by clicking on them…
(I had to open Photoshop, then use >File >Open to open an image…) but now I can’t remember how to disable Photoshop in this manner…

If anyone knows how to disable this function in Photoshop, I’d appreciate the info…

in windows explorer you can select a jpg or gif, right click (maybe hold the shift key, depending on your os), select "open with" then select another application to open those files.

another workaround, make sure you’re uploading using binary format, not text format.

This is not a Photoshop function.. It is a Windows function. A good way to change the file association is to enter the tool tab in Windows Explorer. Then, under the file types function, scroll down until you find the offending file type. Remove the association at that point. Jim

I stumbled on another workaround… in CuteFTP, use the "generic" display for icons… this also solved the problem!
