I know the advantages of shooting raw mode but the question that I have is can one end up using a jpeg and extensive editing in photoshop end up with an image as good as having started out using RAW in the first place? And if so is there really an advantage to using RAW as one can get a whole lot more jpeg on a card that using RAW.

Um….when you say you know the advantages of Shooting RAW….exactly what advantages are you referring to? RAW is very inconvenient. A RAW file is too big, takes up too much space, not previewable….it’s only saving grace is that you get a better image from it. So your question is nonsense if you really mean "as good".

Now….you can ask how much better….that is a better question. IMO….not enough to make up for the disadvantages. Lots of up advocate shooting the best JPGs we can get.

The rest of us use RAW as means toward Tiff.
