The system I’m trying to install this on is a 1.7Ghz P4 with 256M RAM and an nVidia Vanta 16M video card running XP Pro. I have PS7 installed on another machine with the exact same hardware setup running Win2K and it runs fine.

PS7 installs with no arguments on the XP machine but when I try to run it, it loads the plug-ins and gets to the part where it says ‘initializing’, "building TWAIN…" and "Measuring memory". At that point, a pane pops up and says "could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error." and closes the program after clicking OK.

I tried uninstalling all other apps such as Symantec Ghost Console Client and Symantec Anti-virus to no avail. I even stole a 256M RAM-stick from another computer and installed it with no luck. I’ve tried deleting the preferences and that didn’t work either.

The only things I have to go off of are listed above; there is no local printer, only network printers and there are no scanners attached. Under Win2K, there is sufficient memory to run it with no problems and even with all of XP’s graphical doo-dahs turned down or off, it still doesn’t want to run.

Anyone have any Ideas? The computer model is a Compaq EVO D5S SFF

Thanks in advance,
Weylin
