CS has a status bar that you can turn on to see how your image fits on the paper without downloading it to your printer (all the Epson printers that I have owned have an image preview to do this.) I can’t find that function on CS2. Is it there?

Nalatalb,

I had a problem with my PS CS in that when I viewed a jpg with the Microsoft Windows Picture 7 Fax Viewer the jpgs were washed out, much too light. They looked normal in PS and Elements 2.

Turned out I had not used Gamma to adjust my PS. I ran Gamma, which changed the PS and now the jpgs look the same in PS and the Windows Viewer.

Gamma, or whatever color management tool you use, is important.

I know exactly what you mean because I’m in the same situation. If you ever find out how to get it back please let me know. In the meantime I’ve found that using "print with preview" will do the job in a less convenient way.

In CS each image has its own status bar.

Click in the correct portion of the margin below the image and you’ll get the familiar schematic page layout with the "X". If your windows are tiny you may have to stretch them horizontally a bit to expose the active area.

This was done because CS2’s new window layout allows you to drag windows outside of the main "MDI" window, which they did to better support multiple monitor systems. It’s also more Mac-like – you can resize the main application window to a horizontal sliver and pretend you’re on a Macintosh. 🙂
