Select by opacity?

Is there anyway to select by opacity so that I can copy only the solid (100% opacity) pixels in a feathered layer? Much thanks.

Try magic select tool and play with the tolerance levels. If you’re selecting multiple colors try holding down shift and select your new color. It’ll add your new color selection to the others.

1) Ctrl/Cmd click on a layer to load it as a selection.
2) Switch to Quick Mask. Make sure you have it configured to show selected areas, not masked areas (double click the quick mask icon to do this if you haven’t already).
3) Use the Image > Adjustments > Threshold (or Levels or Curves) and drag your threshold or white point all the way to the left. What you’re doing is clipping all values higher than pure black, which leaves you only with values that were 100% black in the first place. Pure black in Quick Mask (shown in your overlay color) translates to 100% selected when you exit quick mask.

That’s one way – don’t have time to think about this right now, but if I come up with a simpler way, I’ll post it.
