Is it possible to have lines in the grid at a 45 degree angle ? I have occasion to insert text at that angle and that option would be useful. Thanks for any help.

You would have to make your own grid on a layer and rotate it. Not too difficult. You can also Transform numeric to any angle so no need for a grid.

Thank you edjh, but could you be a little more specific on your suggestion that I do not need a grid if I "Transform numeric"

"Transform Numeric" is a Photoshop command that lets you rotate or scale a selection, or a layer, by typing in numbers. For example, you can use it to make a selection 43% of its current size…or to rotate a layer by 45 degrees.

If you need some element in your image to be at exactly 45 degrees, one way to do this easily is to set that element perfectly horizontally, then use Transform Numeric to rotate it by precisely 45 degrees.

Just type it normally, then go to ‘Transform’ and choose ‘Rotate’. In the settings bar you can fill in the angle in degrees.

My apologies, I didn’t expalin my problem clearly. I’m making a CD label and that requires the tracks listed in a descending order with the first word of each song beginning 45 degrees below the previous one and a graphic/photo to the left. Thus giving a cascading illusion. So it’s only the very first letter of each line that needs to be at a 45 angle to the one avove it. The rest will fall in line automativally. Like so: Yes, I can accomplish this using the grid but it occourred to me that there may be a way using an actual 45 degree guideline.

I recommend:
1. Make new helping layer
2. Draw two lines. Holding down shift will constrain them to 45′
3. Add your text one line at a time to form separate text layers pr line.
4. Align all your text lines, as a block, to be vertical-center with the crossing of your lines
5. Move or nudge each line of text horisontal to start flush with the help lines.
