I have been searching for "text follow curve" and so far I’ve only found how to make text follow a circle. However, what I’d like to achieve in PS7 is text that looks like it’s on a banner, i.e. curve up and down along the length of the line, and have the subsequent lines follow the same path.

Any suggestions or pointers much appreciated,

David

I have found the Layer > Type > Warp Text command, and that takes care of the text, but how can I make a rectanular shape and distort it so as to represent a flag?

Liquefy filter. Or Displacement Map are two ways.

To follow up. I would make the flag first, then make the text, then rasterize the text and use a displacement to to make the text conform to the flag.

Google Russel Brown. I believe he has a tutorial on this very thing.

Or having made the flag, and the text, merge the two layers so that any alterations to the flag also affect the text.

Other people have already described techniques to do this in Photoshop, though the results you get from those techniques aren’t really all that great.

For a job like this, Photoshop is the wrong tool. You can do exactly what you want easily in seconds in Illustrator.
