Which version should I buy?

I used Version 4 for a long time (I recall it came bundled with a printer that I had bought) and I used it for a few years for personal stuff. I do a lot of personal photos as a hobby.

Then I used Version 6 on a friends PC and couldn’t go back to 4. Lots better brushes etc. He also had a bunch of filters I liked.

Now I have a new PC —
2 GHz, 512 ram, 160 gig hd and I want to get a newer version of PS for myself, but which to buy???

I’m far from a PS expert, but I feel that Elements is too too simple and limited, just from what I’ve read. Plus I don’t care about slide shows and built in organizers.

CS is waaaaay expensive and I wouldn’t use it to it’s potential for years, if ever, anyway. So I’m considering V7.

Is that the best choice?

How much should I pay? On-line sellers with a good track record?

TIA,
Dave

If you are happy with PS6 Elements 3 will likely serve you well. Otherwise contact Adobe and see if you are eligible to get a CS2 upgrade even though you have PS4.

You can upgrade to CS2 from any version. Might as well go for the latest.
