Do you get a blue screen of death?
Do you get a program (just CS2) or a system (all of WinXP) freeze? How much memory do you have?
How are swap disks set up?
What background programs are running? Try turning them all off, especially antivirus while using CS2, especially if Norton AV,

No blue screen
Just CS2 freeze
1024mb memory…682mb free
swap disks..run CS2 from C:\, swap disk set as D:\
Norton systemworks (AV/security) running.
Will try and switch those off.

thanks

Where does it freeze? When you boot up? When you’re working on something? If it’s boot up, what message is displayed a the point where it freezes?

May not be related but I just bought a new machine for my kids that came with Norton everything.
The PC was completly unusable before I trashed every little bit of Norton.

I have basically the same problem. When I work on an image after several edits Photoshops menus stop responding. I can move the image and apply edits but when I try to acces a menu item no response. Also the keyboard shrtcuts are affected too. I also have a gig of ram and have a seperate hard drive dedicatedted to photoshops scratch disk.

Not surprised. If you want an AV solution that works and doesn’t impact on your computer get NOD32. As for firewall,
get Outpost from Agnitum. Again, it works well and doesn’t have much impact on your computer.

Thanks, I’ll give the Agnitum a try, for some reason I do not trust the XP built in firewall.
As for AV I simply configure Firefox to not install anything and the kids don’t need a mail client so no virus.

Unless you don’t connect to the internet you *will* get a virus or trojan unless you use an effective AV app. If you haven’t yet, you’re lucky. It’s just a matter of time. It doesn’t need you to explicitly download anything either.

Haven’t had one for years and never had a problem.
I do a check now and then on the symantec site and I always come out clean.

This may or may not be your problem. I have had Photoshop and iTunes not work well together. I have very often seen Photoshop freeze up while iTunes in playing in the background.

I use WMP instead and it works just fine.
