I am looking for a plug-in which will take a normal color (or monochrome) photograph and create a line drawing. I have looked at Andromeda and Flaming Pear, but they only seem to create halftone effects.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Photo to drawing.

Shift + Ctrl +U
then Ctrl + J
then Ctrl + I
then in your layers palette change mode to colour dodge then go to Filter Blur/gaussian blur.
Move the slider till you like what you see.

Thanks for the reply, but that isn’t quite it. While it doesn’t produce the half-tone I am trying to avoid, it doesn’t seem to be a line drawing either. However, it does come close! Thanks again. —

Thanks, SamMan,

That seems to be the closest yet. I think if I can figure a way to replace the solid black areas with lines, much like an engraving, I’ll be there. Again, thank you. I think I could probably use that as is.

ctrl+J
Filte>Smart Blur (Quality=High,Mode=Normal)
Adjust the sliders to someting you like, usually I like; (Radius=45 to 70, or so, Threshold=15 to 40, or so),
ctrl+J,
Image>adjust>channel Mixer (check MONCHROME,
adjust the sliders to someting like; Red=10,Green=70,Blue=20), Filter>Stylize>Find Edges,
ctrl+I

Set the layer mode for the top layer to Lighten and adjust opacity, or set to Linear Burn,
or set to Difference (cool effect)
or set to Pin Light and adjust opacity,
or set to overlay and adjust Brightness & Contrast,
or try a bunch of other things until you see something you like.

I’m ok until I get to the following:

Set the layer mode for the top layer to Lighten and adjust opacity,

How do you do that?

Or this:
or set to Linear Burn,
or set to Difference (cool effect)
or set to Pin Light and adjust opacity,

or try a bunch of other things until you see something you like.

Thanks,

Larry

I’m ok until I get to the following:

Set the layer mode for the top layer to Lighten and adjust opacity,

**On your top tool bar** go to WINDOW>Layers
this will open or bring to the top if it is open, the layers menu. Layer mode is a drop down on the top left of the layers menu, opacity is top right.
How do you do that?

I like this one, only Linear Dodge is even more pencil like.
