I asked Gary Burton few days ago about a similar way of working in my case adding th_ to the front of a file when doing the Thumbnail 100. He said that I could not modify it but could run a batch rename to add it after doing the thumbs.
So its not a bug but the way it works

The way it works? Seems strange. Seems like CTRL+S would behave in a script the same way it works when I hit CTRL+S outside a script — the filename is the same as the filename’s original image. So it may be the way it works, but it’s not the best way to make it work. The filename should be maintained.

And a batch rename wouldn’t work for my purposes because I work on all my images in the same directory. Each new image I run the script on would replace the first image in the batch. There would only be one image to rename because the script would overwrite each image, each time it’s run.

Yuck!!!!! Thank Heaven there’s Irfanview!
