Well I have used PS since version 4 (1996) and so far had never encountered the frozen startup. This weekend I cranked it up and it froze at DONE, had to use CTRL ALT DEL to end program.
Thanks to reading this NG I knew it was an issue with the PREFERENCES files. So I dumped the folder and now it works!!

I hope that the Save was, in fact, "Done." In the "good ole days," I’d sometimes loose hours of work (back when HDDs were tiny, RAM expensive, and MB’s couldn’t hold/OSs access more than 512K), when the freeze came. Thankfully, that hasn’t happend in this millennium.
