RAW images on PS CS2-Help!

Anybody, help?
i shot some images in RAW+Jpeg mode on Canon Rebel Digital XT. i downloaded them onto my PC-windows XP.
when i tried to use Photoshop CS2 to open them i get a program error and they don’t open.
in bridge i can see the jpeg thumbnail images but the Raw images are simply listed as CR2.
under file the open RAW option is grayed out so i cannot use it. when i use ctrl O to try to open them i get the program error. what am i doing wrong?
i have the PS CS on my computer as well, and i tried opening it there-no luck.
on the other hand they open easy on the Canon Digital Rebel XT image editing software program.

Help!

You have installed CR2 3.1 update?

after installing the camera raw 3.1 update I can open and edit the raw images BUT in bridge I still cannot view the thumbnails- I can see the listing but unlike the jpegs the thumbnail are not viewable. same with explorer.

is there something I need to turn on or off?

pl advise.

More than likely you installed the plugin in the wrong place.

If you are using Windows, run the AcrChecker utility and post the results here so we can check it out.

If you’re using the Mac, use Finder or Sherlock to find all of the copies of camera raw on your system, and make sure that you have one copy only of 3.1 installed in the exact location of the original Camera Raw 3.0 file. —
