Hi all, i recently downloaded the Adobe Photoshop CS trail version in order to check out the new features in it. However, i came across a problem after installation. Whenever i click on the icon, it says my trail version has expired. What is causing this?

Sounds like your system clock got reset after the installation. The only way to get it to work now would be a harddrive format.

Im not sure if this will work on this type of trial version for photoshop or not and whether or not I should say his on Adobe’s site im not sure so ill just kind of hint at it. If you go into your BIOS and say… set the clock back a few years… you could have a very nicely extended trial version. Although sometimes it messes with other programs so be careful what you do. I fyou are not sure aht you are doing in the BIOS, jus dont mess around with it, find another way. Sorry if I should not post such things on this forums but it is very easy for anyone to find who looks for shortcuts like this so I don’t thikn it will hurt anyone.

Very fine recipe for disaster, John.

Nefarious counsel on Adobe’s own forum, no less.

Way to go.

And what disaster does it cause? may i ask. Not to say you are wrong but what might happen?

I do not encourage doing that I I myself just recently purchased adobe photoshop CS. If he knew how he probably already would have. It is not a secret if you use computers very much that it is possible to do that, but im sorry if this was in some way "offensive" to adobe or anyone else,it was more of a joke than a real solution, sry for any problems caused.

it will permanantly expire the trial software. the vbox protection will lock up and the only way to get the trial working again is a reformat.

It is not a secret if you use computers very much that it is possible to do that,

which is why adobe specifically caused the trial sw to expire if this happens.

As expected with any good programs such as photshop or any Adobe program. Thats why I said i didn’t think it would work. Generally that trick only worked on trial versions years ago before it was more widely known. Even now it works on some simpler programs that people don’t care to protect because even the actual pogram costs $30. Like i said I ment it more as a joke of a solution than anything reliable and sorry for filling up this guys post with no answers.

John_C,

And what disaster does it cause? may i ask. <<

It will cause an immediate time-out of the trial

"And what disaster does it cause?"

I wouldn’t suggest messing with system-level files like that to just anyone. If someone thinks it’s easy to do before they are educationally prepared, they may end up doing some serious damage to their system files. It’s bad enough for many folks just upgrading to a new version of an OS. Through troubleshooting into the mix and the casual user is gonna fall down the rabbit hole.

These things are not the territories for amateur tinkerers to explore willy-nilly.
