I’ve got some video clips of our 1/6 scale "Rocketman" flying on support wires which I exported from Premiere 6.5 in film strip format into Photoshop 6.0. I’ve tried using various sizes of the cloning tool to hide the wires. When I bring the clips back into Premiere, I get what look like heat waves where the individual frames have been altered. Is there a better way to achieve this or maybe another step needed in Photoshop?

Thanks,
Gary

Create a duplicate image, duplicate the layer and move it over about 2 pixels, and erase the wires.

You, my friend, are King of the Forest! I’m a bit of an amateur at Photoshop so would you mind outlining the correct proceedure from the point where I’ve imported the film strip? Sounds like you’re modifying a layer and then overlaying it against a clean section of the background, I think?

Thanks,
Gary

In the future, if you plan on doing this sort of thing, you may find it helps to first shoot a "clean" version of your shot – no model – with identical lighting and (hopefully) identical camera placement. Then shoot another pass with your model. When you bring the two strips into Photoshop you can layer the clean plate of each frame under its corresponding model plate, then either erase or mask out the wires.
