Photoshop 7.0 Importing Images

When we are importing images to create a collage, we notice that all of a sudden the resolution goes from 300 to 72 dpi, and the size of the canvas triples. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. And, it only happens on one of our PC’s.

What is the resolution of the file you are pasting into? I’m guessing 72 ppi. Resolution doesn’t change unexpectedly but a high rez image placed in a low rez document will be huge.
