I’m new to Photoshop and have a question about text in PS 6.

I have a graphic (colored diagram) that I need to add labels/text to specific sections. When I simply add the text to the image in the areas I want, the text is somewhat fuzzy when I print.

What do you need to do in order to add text in PS 6 to an image so the text will be as clear as typical text printed from other applications (such as word, excel, etc…).

I warned you this was a "newbie" question…lol.

Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds like a resolution problem, I’m probably over simplyfying the problem here because changing the resolution will severly impact on your existing diagram.

But for the text go to menu image>image size and set the resolution to 260, this will give you a big file but the print should be very sharp.

What is the resolution of your file?

You are better off using a page layout program (Quark or InDesign) for what you are doing or at least a vector illustration program (Illustrator or Freehand) and bringing your Photoshop graphic into it. Or, for a diagram, do the whole thing in an illustration prog.

However, if you have to do it in Photoshop make sure the image is at least 300ppi. And look at the Options Bar for the different antialiasing settings for type. Try Crisp or Strong.

Don’t neglect to update to 6.0.1 by the way.
