It depends what you mean by used. It’ll load, for sure. After that….

After that it will crash on average about three times a day.

I’ve used ME and PS6 on a 400mhz machine in the past and whilst it has a few issues if you haven’t got it cluttered up with loads of unecessary stuff it should run okay. The crashes in my experience were by no means as frequent as daily but that may just have been my luck. If you haven’t got/can’t afford an upgrade OS give it a try by all means. It’s compatible with PS7, whether it will run to your satisfaction only you can tell. I believe ME limits you to 512mb of memory which may prove a problem if your file sizes are moderate to large.

One of the nice things about ME is if it does run fine for you it gives you a warm innerglow when you hear the doomsayers 🙂

Bask in the glow it may not last 🙁

True enough. Yes, Photoshop 7 will run on Mill-idiot but it’s a terribly unstable system and will crash if you look at it too hard. Recommend going to XP as soon as possible.

WME works just fine. PS7 works just fine. Forget the idiots. Yes, it may crash a bit more. But that’s no justification for $195 and up for a new OS. I go many days without a single WME crash. In fact, I can’t remember the last time it happened.

Btw, I have 512 MB RAM and all is cool. Admittedly, I seldom work with images above a couple of megs, usually less than 100K.

and we have a winner………………………….what do we have for the luckiest Win ME user on the planet today Bob

I run XP so what,
I also used ME but ditched it quick smart, I run for months without a problem, you sometimes run for DAYS, WOW im so impressed. My Dad has ME on his computer but then he usually turns it on, checks his email and he might have to type up the notes for one of Mum’s women’s groups then he turns it off,, If Im lucky, I only get called once a month because something has fucked up again, like the printer refuses to be recognised or normal.dot got corrupt for no apparent reason. ME is a piece of shit that even the die hard proponents admit only crashes every so often. so who is the real idiot here ??

I see. So, a system that will almost NEVER crash, and will run all the newest hardware and software is not justified for a measley 200 dollars, and then you label anybody else who doesnt think like you, as an idiot. Incredibly, you criticise others for doing the exact same thing. Really unbelievable.

I had nothing but problems with ME and with XP, I havent had a single problem.

I go many days without a single WME crash. In fact, I can’t remember the last time it happened.

when you turned the machine on? Heh

Ok, fine for you. I routinely work in large hi rez files, over a gig in size is not uncommon, and I have a 64 bit processor, 2 gigs of RAM and two 250 gig drives.

think I could do that in ME?

I dont. but then, I suppose because I do things differently than you, I’m an "idiot".

Peter,

Ignore the blather about Windows ME. Yes, Photoshop 7 will run fine under Windows ME. Make sure you have at least 256 megs of memory and a processor that is at least 400 MHz. Be prepared to install a new video driver, as is the case with any version of Photoshop.
