Sorry about the subject line, but I don’t know what to call this technique, which is giving me some problems searching for it!

I have Photoshop Elements 2.0. What I want to be able to do is to take (for example) an image 100px wide and 10px high, and chop it into little images each 10px wide and 10px high so that I can display them separated by a little padding (on a web page) but the overall look is of the whole photo. I really don’t know what this is called, but I’m sure there must be an easier way to do it than I do now. What I do now is to duplicate the image several times, set the crop to a fixed size (10px by 10px in my example), and gradually crop the photo into pieces.

Could someone tell me what this technique is called? Helpful hints would be a bonus<g>

Sorry about the subject line, which should of course be "Dividing" not "Diving".

Use Slices and then go into the HTML code and change the padding or cell spacing. One way to do the slices would be to make guides at the correct intervals and make Slices from Guides.

Thank you. Slices aren’t mentioned in my PSE book (perhaps Photoshop and not Elements?), but I can see how I can use the ruler or the grid to help me.
