I know about using the menu: Select, Save Selection,
but that has to be opened and used in the same file.
I want to save a selection that I can later bring into any file. How do I do this ?

I have the book:
Adobe Photoshop 6.0
Classroom in a book

I read the chapter on masks and channels and supposedly it’s in there somewhere, but I can’t seem to find it.

A saved selection doesn’t only have to be used in the same file. You can drag and drop saved selections between two photoshop files, or into illustrator or indesign files too.

Thanks. You would think they might have mentioned that in the book. Guess that’s expecting too much.
