My office is looking to buy all flat panels for our next round of monitor purchases. Desktop space is in short supply and small monitor footprints would be a real advantage for us. I work for an architectural firm that uses AutoCAD, Photoshop and some 3D building modeling software. What are the good things to look for in a flat panel. I use to think response time was important…but am learning that it’s only gamers that need that and for our apps a low response time would probably lead to a deficiency in other areas of the monitor. And then I started hearing about MVA, IPS and TN technology and that IPS is a lot better. I can’t even find what type of technology is used for most monitors.

So I’m looking for advice from photo editors. Do you have a monitor that works well for you. Do you know of a good web site that discusses good monitors for those in the graphic industry.

Thanks

The hardware reviews at Cadalyst magazine would probably be the best place to start for what you need to do.

If colour accuracy is a prerequisite then you’re going to be limited as to which makes you can purchase (see Eizo e.g. which will display accurate colours – most won’t).
