Hi.

I agree, that is a really great program. It seems an awful pity that so many people who post pictures, have not been using it.

What’s wrong with "The Creativity" filter?

It seems to me that if the OP went out and purchased PhotoShop (the *full* version) and downloaded the free "Creativity Filter" … they would have "IT."

= = = = = Begin Quote = = = = =

About the Creativity Filter
This Photoshop filter meets a need which is often expressed on the newsgroups, for a filter which can duplicate the look of well-known artists and art styles. Whether it’s transforming a portrait into the Wall Street Journal style or echoing the look of the old masters, this filter is guaranteed to make your image look better. A few simple sliders give you incredible control over the look of your image.

Filter Controls
Creativity
This slider goes from 0 to 100%, and controls the amount of creative interest added to your image. The effect is somewhat unpredictable; use the preview window to assess the effect.
Edginess
This slider goes from 0 to 100, and controls the degree to which the image diverges from established artistic expectations. Small values are best for traditional styles such as Byzantine and Retro; values above 50 are recommended for Grunge, Hi-Tech and Surreal. The best method is to increase the Creativity slider until you like what you see, then fine-tune the effect with the Edginess setting. Note: very high Edginess values will change your image unrecognizably, and may violate community standards. Style
Free is the default style. It does not impose a predetermined look on your image. This is the best choice if you are not going for one of the styles mentioned below. Otherwise, choose from one of the following:

= = = = = End Quote = = = = =

(PS – It even has a ‘ Warhol’ setting … )

maybe a BFA (bachelor in Fine arts)
hehe

jk
some good directions to start:
play with the filters, make several layers
experiment with the blending modes of the layers
a useful tool is the ACTIONS>quadrant

all great artists try to imitate the masters and PS has many wonderful easy to use tools but there is no one easy bottom to press to get a "Warhol"

Probably the first place to start is with paint, a brush, and an empty canvas. Baring that, you might want to look at some of the Adobe Studio plug-ins, or a program from Corel, Painter.

Try Repligator

There used to be a shareware version but I don’t think you can get it now. One of the settings ‘posterises’ your base image just like Warhol’s famous Marilyn Monroe paintings.

I think he most used silk screen and resist techniques, as much of his print stuff are silk screen prints
I tried this yesterday on a photo and did not see any short quick way but I managed to make something similar.
I used threshold, then blended with posterize, a paint daubs layer to get rid of graininess and then erased back some to get some details. To alter the colors I used, hue/sat, replace color, selective color and curves.
If I have time later I will post the results.

Actually there is. Try a program called Repligator from Ransen. They actually have a setting to make a Warhol like image. As a matter of fact, that’s partially what the program is all about–to take your original and apply the techniques of some of the masters. They also have some very unique other settings as well. You can google the site, but I believe it’s ransensoftware.com. You should also be able to find it at ZDnet and other download sites.
