I don’t believe another application could prevent your Photoshop clone tool from working.
Most likely a tool setting. Have you changed anything in the tool bar? Did you set the mode to something? Is the opacity 100? How big is your brush?
Or maybe you have an active selection somewhere. Tried ctrl D ? Are you sampling and cloning on the same layer. Maybe you are working on an adjustment layer instead of the image itself ?

What happens when you use the tool? Are you sure you don’t have the Pattern Stamp tool chosen by mistake? They look very similar.

Thanks Scruff, but we know the system is spyware free. Shoulda said that in the beginning.

The person having the issue is a client of mine. The chatlink program is the Gotoassist.com client, which allows me to control her desktop remotely. The clone tool has worked while I have been connected.

Tonight she emailed me, said she had changed nothing, but when she got back home, it was working. I will check with her in the morning and see how it is going and post back.

Can you state what is happening/not-happening with the Clone Tool? Also, knowing what is "active" will help, as well. There are many possibilities, most already stated, that will keep the tool from working as one thinks it should.

I pulled some hair out the other day, when my Clone Tool went to the "block" and not the "brush size." Before I was totally bald, however, I noticed that I was holding the Wacom stylus upside-down and using its eraser!

The possibility of an active Selection elsewhere is the first place I’d look – hence the earlier suggestion to Ctrl-D.

Hi

I had a similar problem recently using my tablet mouse, when I used the tablet pen there was no problem. Are you using a tablet?
