.. i appologize for being a little vague here, as i can not re-create my problem using any consistant steps.
pretty randomly, as i am working in photoshop from within a minute through a couple of hours, i will select a tool and click in the drawing area and nothing will happen. for example, i will go select the zoom tool in the tool bar, click on the artwork and nothing will happen. i can go to the paintbrush tool, click to paint, and nothing will happen. i can also choose to use the scale option, and though the drawing will become selected, i can not ‘grab’ the selection to move it. in short, it is as if the cursor is blocked from manipulating the canvas. the only thing i can do, luckily, is save my document by using the shortcut key, shut the program down, and open it up again and it will be functioning correctly – until the problem occurs again.
this has been happening constantly on both my dekstop and laptop (one is XP pro, the latter is XP home). this does not appear to be tied to a memory shortage (1 gig and 512mg respectively), as full clipboard or not, fresh reboot or two-week uptime, this occurs. to further puzzle me, one machine is a geforce and the other a radeon. both computers are, however, HP’s.
this does not happen in illustrator CS, indesign CS, imageready CS, or acrobat 6.
relevant software loaded: norton antivirus, objectdesktop’s windowblinds and winfx, version cue, roxio drag to disc.
