Can you update from Adobe Photoshop Limited Edition 5.0 to the full version (current) by just buying the upgrade package (version 7’s upgrade package) or can you only activate this product against an early PS edition which is not a "limited" edition. Description online of the product was not clear on this point.

Can someone tell me if the PS7 upgrade will work with PS4 or do I need a more recent version?

Yes, you can upgrade to any version from any version (back to the 1st windows version – 2.5)

I’m also upgrading my computer and someone told me today that PS had been optimize for Hyper Threading, is this true

Yes.

and if so would that be 7.0.1 or is it CS?

Both.

Adobe is no longer shipping version 7 though. If you’re getting it retail, you’ll get CS (which I’ve been running for about 2 weeks now and I love it!) If you’re getting an old in stock copy of v7 retail, you’re entitled to a free upgrade if you get it between (I think these are the dates) 9/30/03 and 12/31/03. You need to call adobe customer service with proof of purchase ready to send or fax to get the free upgrade. If you’re buying 7 off of something like e-bay, be very careful. Make sure you either get an unopened box that’s never been registered or get a transfer of license from the seller or you will not be able to upgrade that version in the future.
