Hello,

I am resizing some old post-cards. But, while doing it, I often go a bit over the edge of the card. So, when the picture is resized, there is a ugly black line that appears.

Is there a way to prevent the resizing tool from going over the edge of a picture ? You can’t use the magnifying glass and the resizing tool simultaneously, and you must have the whole picture in the screen to resize it !

thanks

What is the resizing tool to which you refer? Image Size? Transform? Where does this line appear? It’s not very clear what you are doing.

If you’re referring to the too that I believe you’re referring to , that’s the crop tool.

You could try,
Select>All, (Ctrl + A) then "Transform Selection"…then just drag in the marching ants past the offending bit you don’t want in the final picture and then use "image size" to give you the final image.

Or the crop tol and set the x and y sizes with the dpi (along the top bar under the menu)

I use the resizing tool which is in the third line in the default tool box : I draw a rectangle, I press "enter", and the picture is resized. But this rectangle may be greater than the original picture. Usually, I go 1 or 2 millimeters over a edge of the original post-card. So, there is a black additionnal rectangle to the picture, 1 or 2 millimeters wide. When I insert this picture in a publisher file, this black line appears, et I have to start again…

My question : how to prevent the resizing rectangle from being greater than the picture ?

Daniel
That’s the Crop tool. Try holding down Ctrl (Command on Mac) while dragging the boundary. It should give you better control and precision.

MAKE SURE TO CHECK SNAP to document bounds, you may want to turn off snap to ruler if there is a conflict.

You do know that you can crop an image in Publisher so that not all of it is visible, right?
