Hi,

I am considering upgrading to CS on my windows XP pro machine. I only have ver 6 right now on windows (i use and love 7 on my mac). I do alot of web as well as print work. Are there any bugs or things I should be aware of before upgrading? What do you guys/gals think of the upgrade? I think I am going to go for the whole studio for in-design and illustrator.

Thanks,

R

I love CS, including Illustrator and InDesign as well. (Although, admittedly, I don’t use Illustrator and InDesign as much.)

I have not run into any problems, and love all the new features in Photoshop CS. BUT, some people here will mention the Activation issue as well as slowness being experienced by some people.

IMO, the activation isn’t a big deal for most users, and the slowness seems to only effect people with dual processors or hyperthreading – and there is a fix out for them.

One guy I know told me when he slices out say a header, the html generated always matches the document size, not his selected slices size… anyone share a similar experience with html generated when slicing?

Why not download the demo and take it for a 30 day test drive. Since you’re already an experience user with version 6.0, it shouldn’t take you that long to figure out if it’s a good choice for you.

IMO, If you’re going to use your 6.0 license to upgrade to the entire suite, it’s worth it even if you never use Photoshop.

I have Pent 4, 1.8, 1 gig memory, Win XP pro. Not a fast machine by current standards. Photoshop CS runs very well for me. No shutdowns or errors, ever. I like most of the new features A LOT. It runs reasonably fast, except for some filters. I don’t care for the “filter gallery” because I feel that it slows filter operations considerably. This is my only complaint. Well, that and the completely stupid REactivation, which I’ve only had to do a couple of times. I have no problem with activation, just REactivation. As Dave says “Go for it”. I did and I’m very impressed. I purchassed CS when it first came out so I do have a bit of experience to base my opinion on.
