We have been experiencing a problem whereas a grey background in liue of a white background. This has been only happening when a psd is flattened and only happening on a few machines. Our only solution to the problem has been to duplicate the background layer and then print.
Any suggestions on to why this is happening and what we can do to fix it (w/o jumping through hoops each time we print)?

Thanks in advance,
William Smith

Hum,

What kind of printer are you using?

What is your printing procedure?

What is are colour values for the white?

We have tried it on both a Minolta laser and Xerox laser. Same results and it happens on only certain computers. When the file is printed from another computer it prints fine.

The color values for white are 255,255,255

It sounds like you’re just using the wrong intent or profile when printing (absolute colorimetric would tend to cause darker whites).

How would one go about changing the intent or profile?
THanks Chris-

Found the problem-
Problem was with the color space that it was trying to print with. The only way we found to change this option was to go to "Print with Preview" and change the setting from "Proof: US web coated (SWOP) v2" to Document color space of sRGB yada yada yada.
Thanks for the help on this, color management isn’t something I have been able to grasp and I usually end up leaving it on the defaults.
