Which do people think is better for retouching and light art, the 6×8 size or the 10×12 size?

I would think the larger would give better precision, but I don’t know if that’s true.

Precision is not really an issue with these tablets because even the small ones have more points than the screen has pixels. Pick the size you feel comfortable with when drawing on a sheet of paper. The larger size allows you to use your arm more while drawing, which is important for many trained artists. Personally, for masking and such, I’m happy with the smaller screen, even a 4×5.

No, it’s not. Which size you pick is really a matter of personal preference and comfort. I prefer the 6×8.

No. It’s really down to personal comfort and the use you’re putting it to – for the use you mention an A4 (which I assume is your 6×8) is easily big enough, IMHO.

Draw something on a piece of paper. Just needs to be a few strokes. Then measure the size to see what your ‘style’ dictates. I bought a 6×8 and have mapped it to a smaller rectangle, because I needed strokes at 6×8 that were larger than I could control well. I’m not a trained artist, just a PS ‘technician’.
