I am going to shoot a wedding with a partner and would like to be able to sort the files from the different cameras (Canon D60 and Nikon D70)by time stamp. This would give a sequential order to the files for the event. I tried this in the File Browser and it seperates the files by filename (Canon = CRW8888.CRW, Nikon= dsc_0013.NEF). I can not get it to merge the files so I can rename the raw files. Is there a way to do this?

Photoshop Album [and some other cataloging programs] can do this.

I think that Win XP can list files by shooting time/date, then you could do a batch rename.

Thanks, Colin. I tried it in XP and it acted like Photoshop. Maybe I will have to get another program.

By default XP shows file date, but there is a way to have it show and order on shooting date.

I cannot try it just now, as this PC is Win 2000. I’ll take a look when I get home later.

Jay,

From Explorer in Details view, right-click on the ‘menu bar’ (Name|Size|FileType|etc) – You will be amazed at what properties you can reveal and sort by…

Not able to sort by lens, aperture or shutter speed though… Now that would be interesting.
