For years I’ve been using Art Explosion clip art — importing the files into CorelDraw. Since switching to Windows XP, my Corel 8 no longer works, so I have to find another way to access the clip art. The Art Explosion manual says Photoshop will open the files, but when I attempt opening one, I get a message saying the file is not the right type of document and Photoshop is unable to open it. This makes sense as the files are WMFs. What doesn’t make sense is that the manual specifically lists Photoshop as a compatible software. Anyone have any answers? Or another source for canned clip art? Thanks in advance. Sandy

I still use CorelDraw 8 on Windows XP Pro. What kinds of problems were you having? What revision of the program do you have? There were three (8.233,
8.369, and 8.433) and patches are available to update to the final version,
the first release was pretty unstable.

Matt, thanks for your response. I didn’t even try to install Corel 8 because I had been told in one of the forums that it wouldn’t work on XP. I will try installing it with the patches. Thanks, Sandy

Sandy,

It should work, but you may have some problems installing the service packs. IIRC, on Win2K you had to reset the time zone on your computer to get them to install. This may hold true for Win XP also.

Corel has some good newsgroups. Point your newsreader at cnews.corel.com.
