I suggest that you could provide us with a bit more information.

What OS?

What version of Photoshop?

What else were you doing?

Have you tried disabling any utility programs on your system?

Have you check for the latest viruses?

Trying to use SAVE AS command to change from tiff to jpg nothing else open
no viruses in scan

did you get the dialog to reset your photoshop settings or delete the file? (adobe photoshop x.0 prefs.psp)
