A neighbour has just given me two old negs to scan and print. I have a Canon D2400U. When I put the neg on the plate, which side should be facing down? They are Kodak but I cannot decide what side is up! Kodak and is printed along the edge so, when I scan, I presume that Kodak will be visible and not reversed, is that correct?

thanks

Shiny side toward the scanner glass, but you may want to scan dull side down and flip the image for two reasons – better sharpness, since you are not scanning through the film back, and less chance of Newton’s rings, which are colored halos that look like the lines.
