Is there a way to blur the edges of a transparent layer (i.e. a layer that contains tranparencies), much like what gaussian blur does, using lens blur? I tried it, but lens blur only blurred the image, while leaving the edges crisp. Note that I cannot use any other type of blur — it has to be lens blur as others (like gaussian blur) would look unnatural and inappropriate for the project I am currently working on.

Thank you and good day.

Daisuke Akiyoshi,

Adobe Studio’s tutorial on the Lens Blur states that the white of the layer or alpha mask protects the image and the black part of the gradient gets the blur. Perhaps you can solve your problem by checking the Invert box near the alpha channel part of the dialog and your mask or gradient will work as expected?
