Hi,
When I create a new file in Photoshop 7 (dimensions 9.5 by 4.75), I appear to be working on a blank template (white)but when the document is printed it has a grey background to it, which upon closer inspection can be seen in the print preview.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong….

Many thanks

Is your New File using White, or Background Color?
If Background color, is BG color really set to pure white?

Silly question I know but how do I set the background to pure white. If I just select white shouldnt that be enough ??

If in new file, you check "white", yes, that is enough, should be pure white.

Look at some of your print output choices under Profile and Intent. Try Same As Source, or Printer Color Management if you’re not doing a strict color profiled workflow.

I’m sure some other printing gurus will be by soon if that doesn’t do it.

Still no good, the background still appears to be white but when checked in print preview its a slightly off white….this is going to be something silly I know but it’s driving me mad trying to figure out whats going on…..

– With image open in PS, turn on Info palette. Run tool across white area. It really IS 255/255/255, right?

– Have you set any kind of color correction in your print driver settings? Try selecting different printer in Page Setup/Printer while on the preview page. Load a PostScript printer, set to file if you don’t have another one installed.

See if it looks gray only when viewed with that one printer.

RE-run Adobe gamma and create a new monitor profile too.

What is the rendering intent you used for color management? are you color managing in Photoshop or inside the printer drivers?
