What are the pixel dimensions of your file?

You want to shoot for 300dpi at the size you want to print. This is not to say that your image will not print well at a lower dpi. It really depends on the image and how much detail is in it.

There are plug ins that can help, Genuine Fractals, is one plug in that does an okay job.

I say, try it and you be the judge of the quality. First turn off re-sampling and adjust the size in inches and then see what you dpi number ends up being. print the file at that size and then look it over.

next turn re-sampling on and up sample the file to maintain 300 dpi at the print size. print it and look it over.

Where did this pic come from? Is it a 3X4 print? If so you can have it scanned on a GOOD scanner at high res and you can end up with a file that will print great at 8X10 or larger.

To print 10 inches wide at 300dpi you need a file that is at least 3000 pixels wide.
