What I really want is Giclee and, like you said, maybe I must bump the saturation up a little. This is a sea scene and the lady asking me therefore, (owner of the gallery doing the framing of the one on satin) said it must have kind of a painting effect.

Is she referring to the process that puts a paint-like texture over the prints? I have seen that in some frame shops. They make re-prints of fine art and paint over with a clear but built up surface to simulate thick paints. I think it’s kind of cheap and tacky, I prefer my photos as photos not fake paintings.
I am 101% in agreement with you – full stop.
For some or another reason, these same simulated thick painted cheap & tacky fake paintings is dominating the market. There is not a market for realistic quality photos comparing to the way these paintings sell. Not necessarily digital paintings of course, but still, a seagull must not look real if it is to be sold.
Two week ago, I had a very good sea scene printed in A1 size. The lady running the gallery where I usually have my printings framed, ask for a repeat on canvas. Not framed though, because the tourists roll it up tot take it with.

Let me explain myself. Photography is simply a hobby for me. But I spend quite a lot there on, so, if it can pay for it self, good. </important>
I don’t intend selling photos to the newspapers or magazines. I do not even think off be at unknown peoples marriages
for taking photos. I do not need it.
I sold photos from a shop in Umhlanga Rocks, but it
barely paid for the cost. And I withdrew.
I did not ask here for. She runs a gallery in one of the best and biggest shopping centers in Durban, *and*
they do 90% of Durban’s framing work.
I see what she sell’s. I see what the galleries in Gateway at Umhlanga sell’s. I see what the galleries in La Lucia sell. And I see what the galleries in uShaka Island sell.
There is galleries for Africa here; have you got a clue
how large Durban are? With the South Coast and North Coast South & North of us?
They sell… (here comes it)… reprints of art which is painted with a clear but built up surface to simulate thick paints. And it is kind of cheap and tacky. And I prefer my photos and not fake paintings; up to when the client want a fake painting. Then my dear KatWoman, the client gets a
fake painting. The prices are not cheap & tacky.
Here is well-off people. Come see what
they drive. Come see what they sail. Come see their houses. Come see the prices (which was) on the paintings against their walls.
