Hey people,

Hope you’re all well. I have a problem with my version
of Photoshop and hopefully someone may have had the
same problem.

Well, the problem is that no matter how many times I
try to reload Photoshop or my PC for that matter I can’t save my images using the "Save for web.." tag. I’ve also tried resetting the programs default settings but to no
avail.

If any of you people have any suggestion as to how I
can resolve this problem, your help would be gratefully
received.

I hope that this finds you well also. Did you do a "complete" removal before reinstall? Also, are you doing this from CS CD-ROM, etc. and have tried the "repair" option?

When you choose "save for web" it should spawn the Image Ready program. Are you sure it’s been installed? is it hiding in a window behind PS?

No it doesn’t – PS just saves the image in jpg form without any exif or other built in data (strips out everything but the image in fact) It could be he’s using 16bit images in which case PS won’t save in jpg format at all, which is why I asked if it will save in jpg!

It may just be that your PC needs more RAM, or you need a faster PC. Save For Web doesn’t just let you save in GIF or JPG etc., it will generate up to 4 windows of what your image will look like using various image types and at different loss amounts. So, for example, you get to see your huge wallpaper in different levels of image compression which allows you to choose the one with the best trade-off between file size and picture quality.

If your PC is slow or you have a lack of RAM (or even a lack of hard disk space), this would slow this process down a lot. Maybe even freezing it up for you.

Hey people,

I have Photoshop v7 and have a back-up iso on my HD,
so that isn’t the problem as I have compared the data against the cd. I can save the images as jpgs and some other formats, however, it refuses do the "Save for web.." function. The add-on program Image Ready that’s bundled with Photoshop is installed but it doesn’t run when I do the save for web..

However, I don’t think that is the problem as I was able to do it before without the Image Ready program loading. Also, I don’t think that its an issue of memory as I have 758 MB of RAM and I’m not running 16bit mode. I will try and do
another re-install of Photoshop.

Also, a big thanks to all of you, that replied…

THANK YOU
